You'll need a car to cruise through the rolling green hills of our luscious Byron hinterland. With its banana plantations and macadamia farms, you can stop to explore the chic cafes and antique stores of tiny villages such as Bangalow, Newrybar, Tintenbar, Eltham, Clunes, Eureka and Federal. Explore your way around and enjoy the many walking trails, waterfalls, delectable food, and hinterland retreats!

The Killen Falls in Tintenbar is a little hidden gem where you can picnic swim and relax.

Pick up your fresh roasted coffee too! Drop by Zentveld's, the region's most high profile coffee orchard on Broken Head Road. They also offer barista courses and tours of the coffee plantation.

In keeping with the community spirit of our hinterland, the Eureka Hall Stall uses the money to maintain its cute community hall across the road.

Just off the Lismore to Bangalow Road, between Bexhill and Clunes, the historic railway village of Eltham is nestled in a lush and picturesque valley. Hire the local tennis court for a game, then pop across the road for a refreshing ale at the classic country pub, the Eltham Friendly Inn.

Clunes, once a staging post on the Lismore to Bangalow Road and is a Gaelic word for 'pleasant place'. Stop at the Clunes General Store Cafe for a coffee and pastry or wood- fired pizza and get a taste of friendly village atmosphere.

A 20-minute scenic drive from Byron through the hinterland brings you to the pretty little village of Federal.

Federal Doma Cafe. This modern Japanese/Australian fusion cafe serves excellent food and the vibe is fitting for the Northern Rivers. The locals talk about this place with great passion.

Hinterland treasures! The Nightcap National Park is a very special place and Minyon Falls is a spectacular waterfall cascading through a valley of ancient rainforest and surrounded by buzzing wildlife and birds.
